What in the WORLD ???!!!

This will be brief.

Early this Sunday morning (about 6 a.m. EDT)  my sleep-fogged brain was jolted into activity by an international wire report that Iran's Supreme Leader, the Ayatollah Kameini spent a lot of time ranting "Death to America" in his most recent pronouncement aimed at the worldwide audience.

Now, there is nothing new about that...Except....

In a flash- exclusive- red-hot article nearby on the same aggregate site page was this story:

John Kerry, US Secretary of State says lifting of sanctions so as to allow Iran nuclear capability is near accomplishment with "just a few snags" remaining.

As arrogant and self-absorbed as this writer confesses to having been at times, this double jolt of newly minted 2015 Through-the-Looking-Glass   acting-out melted all available circuits, dissiolved some neurons and closed many synapses.

Is this a "function" of sending a Doofus Loser to do heavy lifting ?

Is this the result of Bibi Natanyahu's dazzling victory over Obama at home and abroad ?

Is this the way this opaque, Byzantine truthless White House planned its verbal assault on the citizenry?

In nearly 90 years, this reporter has never seen or heard of such wild and crazy disconnect.

One thing is certain. The United States of America will be a long time recovering from these adolescent shuck and jive gotcha games.

A quick look at history will illuminate what the harvest of institutional anti-Semitism is. I never thought my country would have to learn the lesson that humbled Rome in the dawn and all of Europe in our lifetime.

What ? Me Worry ?

We are subject to all manner of Age-ist criticism just for hanging around too long  and remembering stuff.  It makes some people uncomfortable when they cannot safely invent a new "reality" you know.

But they cannot heap "ADD"  criticism on someone who checks out all the main line media outlets  and about a Baker's dozen blogs at least twice a day and sometimes at midnight.

For instance, late Monday night Breitbart News broke the story that the White House  "admitted" the president exchanged emails with his secretary of state Hillary Clinton while she served.

But it was over the weekend that the president, harassed about Hillary Clinton's private email shenanigans,  he was quoted as saying that he first learned Ms. Clinton used a non-government email account in a recent New York Times report.

Now, tell me... Is it unfair to say that there is a falsehood lurking in there somewhere ?

And then there is the conception exception.

While in Selma, Alabama, the president regaled a slavering coterie of green as well as seasonrd reporters and columnists with the revelation that the Selma March was "the Inspiration for"  his conception and birth.

But his arithmetic leaves a great dealto be desired.

The famous Selma March was in 1965.  The president, according to the only records extant, was born four years earlier  in 1961 !

Surely, we Ancients are not the only ones who pay attention and consequently get repeatedly Zotted and outraged by these Blivets.

We hereby declare we are paying attention. But we also declare that we cannot decipher the code.  Is this a matter of over excited neediness for understanding?.... Or is it pathological Bullspitting ?

And how much more of this  will you suffer before you start worrying a little bit?

They know they have overreached and they know a court challenge will be swiftly mounted . The Commission members who favored the grab for the Internet (they "won" 3-2) may even realize they cannot be successful, in the end-game.

Why then would they propose and follow such a reach ?  Because they CAN . That is the nature of the dedicated Bureaucrat .

That they do so with the conspiratorial subversive aid of the president and his administration and party is just natural.  Stacking the deck hand in hand with con men and satisfyig hustlers' lust  and hucksters' designs  is how Bureaucrats stay in power.and increase their maligninty.

Do you remember when we reported here on the frightening visit of two nSecret Service agents to a Texas lady to shake her up after she had rebuked a cell phone robocaller  for a Democrat political campaign ? They called her to recruit her.  The SS agents accused her of  making a "Death Threat",  when actually she had spoken of opposing abortion to her unwelcome caller.

When the victim asked for identification, I remember the female SS agent smirked: "You ain't gettin none of MY card !"

My point here is they MAY be partisan, they MAY be unAmerican, they MAY be intent onb overthrowing order in any way thay can.

But the most fearsome and dangerous description that "sticks"  is  Government Bureaucrat.

Will PC Destroy ISIS ?

Marie Harf,  a spokeswoman for Secretary of  State John Kerry seems to have created some entertainment among even the Lie-stained wretches of the downstream media by suggesting that the only way to defeat the ISIS Caliphate-bound terrorists is to provide a comfortable entitlement environment like the one her boss loves and sustains.

She told Chris Matthews on MSNBC that we cannot kill our way past the terrorists. She said poverty, inequality, deprivation and  ignorance force these people into I S I S, Al Qaeda and Boko Harum !

(Well,  one out of four gives her a score of  25/100. That is "F" for fail, is it not ?

If this were not such a tragic and expensive lie ( to herself as well as to us), it would be grist for standup comedy.

But she was serious and when she was challenged she doubled down and suggested again it's a waste of time to fight terrorism with anything other than jobs, comfort and alms.

I'm glad that I know George Washington hanged a traitorr-terrorist-spy,  Major Andre , instead of feeding him or bedding him down !

I suggest that La Harf is just another poster girl for the corrupt, untruthful  wussification of Ameruica. She makes Madeline Albright look like  Chancellor Merkel !

We are in a cauldron of lies  and all the history and legacy of  American gallantry is being  reduced to ash and blown away by the convulsive hiccups of  traitors who lie in plain sight.

One's mind reels, watching the truckling and bowing to Iran's Ayotolla Kahmeini.

Would Spruance, Halsey and Nimintz have asked Hirohito's permissio to visit Iwo Jima and Okinawa ?

Certainly that was not our community disorganizer -in-chief  at the national prayer breakfast , equating thousand year old Crusader myths with the burning alive of a Jordanian pilot by Stone Age barbarians this week .

As a matter of fact, the performance and the attitude were so obviously juvenile and sophomoric that one knew that  this was the personna of little Barry Soetoro from that Muslim elementary school in Jakarta Indonesia, circa 1970 .

No distinguished graduate of Columbia and Harvard could possibly come up with such a far-fetched “equivalency”in  behavior of Stone Age throwbacks in 2015 with acts of raucous “true believers” on the cusp of the first millennium.

The issue is:  the words of a brainwashed follower of dictums laid down by a relentlessly haunted illiterate in the seventh century who recruited his fellow desert Arabs away from their belief in the magic of whirlwinds, toward a blueprint of savage slaughter of everyone and anyone who denied the religion of Subnmission (Isl;am).

The man at the prayer breakfast is probably the only man in the United States who really believes that there is no connection between Islam / Muslim Qu’ranic authority and the plague of terrorism by Al Qaeda, the Islamic State and Bojo Haram that threatens the future of what we had heretofore called “civilization” on the planet Earth .

It is not remarkable ,and not a fit subject for applause when a man tries to appease a consolidation of feral evil which  has promised to cut his head off..

But although this adolescent mind can confuse itself with tales of crusaders and witches, it cannot comprehend the stark  silliness of Neville Chamberlain and his followers among the America-Firsters in this country who believed Hitler could be “loved” into goodness and mercy.

I will step out from behind the editorial plural, usual in  this blog and use the perpendicular pronoun for a brief composition.

 I am older than dirt. I have not lost any appreciable memory of any history that I have seen--- although Herodotus and Gibbon still clasp some secrets from me, I am sure.

When the presidentof the United States on Tuesday night,  taunted and challenged the Congress  to pass legislation requiring that women be paid the same amount that men are paid for doing the same job,  I was jolted by a big Brain Zot ! 

"Dern!!! " I said to myself. "I wudda  SWORN  Jack Kennedy proposed that legislation when he was president... And I cain't be wrong when I remember it passed !"

Well, he did and it did  And the present occupant of the White House and /  or his staff are just ignorant, or maybe imbecilic.

This morning, the great people at American Thinker came up with the whole cloth of facts. You can see them HERE !

At the Depot, our view of the educational system in the United States has usually been restricted to elementary and high school aridity and a worthless application of every piece of PeeCee  poppycock to the defenseless pupils' anesthesis.

As we all well know, academia does not entertain as one of its strong points  the rigor of self- criticism.

But now, a disinterested Vanguard has done some testing on more than 30,000 college graduates from coast-to-coast in the United States, to find out just how prepared for "White Collar" employment in today's job market a "graduate" really is.

The answer is horrific. More than four out of 10 receiving bachelor degrees cannot cope with the simplest requirements of modern day creativity and business leadership.

This should be  painfully embarrassing to academia, but peopled as it is with failed hippy culture and massive marijuana burnout of the brains responsible for these young college people, we should not be too surprised. 

After all, just this week at Duke University, a schedule of calls to prayer by an Imam of Islam from the storied tower there was announced by the University administration in
 Durham....Only to be reversed, retracted and ( they hope)  forgotten in the wake of cease-and-dsist shouts from  University trustees and perpetual donors.

One could view this as the beginning of a cleanup campaign in American education. 

But a close lookat those who are doing the "educating" would not encourage that hope.

The saddest deduction, which is to say, the strongest evidence at hand, would lead any fair-minded person with common sense to say we should attack the superfluity of idiots "instructing" in the colleges while the professors publish papers and make speeches, rather than increase the number of  high schoolers to be victimized by these poseurs.

This is more important than almost anything facing our servants in the legislative and executive branches of government. 

Well, that is the opinion here today, for what it's worth.

A COOL Six-and-a-half million !

Most visitors to this blog know that we are somewhat obsessed with good polling data.  Good polling data, however depends on a good sample properly unsanitized and sprawling. That is the opinion here.

What about a poll around the globe that contacted and recorded the opinion of 6,580,271 people from all continents, all races, somewhat proportioned by economic standing and literacy.  That is, the poorest in this sample far outnumber people with regular jobs or professions.

The respondents were given 16 "issues" and asked to identify the one problem that concerned them most, then the second, and so on down to 16th in importance.

HERE  it is the story that caught our eye.

Global warming, or climate change, or what ever you wish to call the bogus algorean /UN farce, was 16th across the board. The Nadir.

This would lead us to believethat Gruber is the stupid one and the regular citizen of the world, just sweating to gather enough to eat has no time for the folks who said in 1999 that there would be between 50,000 and 100,000 dead global warming refugee and living skeletons by 2010 

Another  Revelation was the problem that almost every single respondent picked as the number one crisis for humanity:

A proper and honest education for every child.

By this weekend, there will not be the blindest liberal who has not heard the evidence that the three ALPHABET   TV nets tried to suppress---to keep from U.S. citizens.

Now, Dr. Gruber tells abot his joining Obama to plan how to hide or lie "out of"  the  "Cadillac Tax" in Obamacare. SEE VIDEO HERE!

Firm Eyes = HUGE Prize

It is to laugh that we look at what will soon be the election of the ninth Republican Senator to erase a Democrat incumbent in 2014.

Sen. Mary Landrieu defeated herself last week in her runoff to be decided the first week in December. She vigorously attacked her opponent, Bill Cassidy for "being AWOL  during and in the wake of hurricanes Katrina andRita.

We cannot believe she did not know Cassidy is a medical doctor and that he used his own resources to organize and fund an emergency medical center for refugees of the hurricanes.

Maybe Miss Mary doesn't know that the national Democrat  Party has withdrawn all funds supporting her candidacy as of the night of November 4, 2014.

There's a lot of that going on. The dems  cut their losses in a lot of places. Those left high and dry would make a long, LAWNG list of losers.

For the liberal party did not just lose the Senate and the House and the hold on governorships,  it lost nationwide almost every state legislature and all the way down two justices of the peace ! Read THIS !

I am not sure that even every Republican officeholder in the United States realizes what has happened.  It just goes to show you that names rarely count.

Brutally Obvious

A threat from Democrat biased  members of the Federal Communications Commission to make new regulations that would  restrict and censor the Drudge Report and other Internet sites was reported this past week to be "in the words".  See Story HERE

There is nothing new about the left wing radicals attempting to stifle those who disagree with their Marxist agenda.

There's nothing new so is hewith their being very afraid of any source of information other than their pet lapdog cronies at the New York Times and the alphabet networks.  Especially in the last six years the doctrinaire national Socialists have tried every way in their power to silence those critical of the Democrat agenda. 

It is with great relief that we can declare they have failed, because we are now on the threshold of conservative control of both houses of the legislature and most of the governorships in the USA.

But what is remarkable is that one of their minions would  announce a plan to control Matt Drudge and his website, the Drudge Report.

Matt Drudge is not in the composing or propaganda business.  He has been from the beginning an "Aggregatpr". That is, he is a portal to other websites, other writers, news sources, opinion columns throughout the world.

Those who visit him HERE .will see that he offers linkage to every wire service, every news source,every coluimnist in the political spectrum from communist to fascist stripe and to every telervision outlet. ALL OPINIONS are represented in the columns of Matt Drudge's website.

So what is behind this determined effort to control a website that directs its readers to the Chicoms' Xinhua,  the Muslims' Al Jazeera as well as the Huffington Post ??

These frothy-mouthed airheads, it turns out, are just opposed to any freedom of choice or liberty for individuals. They are spoiled rotten with their squishy bailiwick of  "liberal" lies and half-truths that they have enjoyed building and repairing since the 1970s.

They seek to draw the black curtain of misinformation, disinformation and cradle-to-grave obfuscation closer and more firmly around the body politic.

And when they see a conservative revolution gathering steam enough to replace their Senate, they lose a sense of proportion and ability to cerebrate rationally.  That is...IF they have possessed same.

The tip-off  is that a left-winger would actually announce such a plan. He obviously never attended any school where they discussed the first 10 amendments to the US Constitution. Ignorance is the heaviest endowment of all.

The vacuous fellow who came up with this plan can be classified in the same IQ group with Hillary Clinton, who pronounced sternly this past Friday that businesses can not create jobs.

Who chooses or votes for these people?  

NOT "Mayflower-esque"

Some of you may brush this off as trivial but then you may take pause and think: "Wait a minute...!"

It's a little story I ran across in a regional newspaper published in the area of the Natick, Massachusetts Township.

The newspaper story, in itself, said that "somebody" told "somebody" that somebody else had told the first somebody that they saw a man "in Town Hall"  with "a big bulge in his pocket like, maybe, a gun... Like !"

The third or fourth somebody went to a constable and then the constable and the last somebody went to the "Chair" of the selectmen, one Martha White.

Now it is important to recognize that Natick is in the area where all of the "Mayflower"  families still remain. They have simple monosyllabic or di-syllabic names like White, Smith, Rogers, Rolfe, Bradford and Allen.

These people do not have to call for a vote on anything. They are endowed by their redolent 17th century  airs with higher credentials than any referendum can bestow.

At any rate,  Ms. White canvassed her Selectmen and announced a rule, or ordinance, or law prohibiting any attendee at a Natick  town meeting from being armed with a weapon, with heavier sanctions in the case of the weapon being concealed from plain view.

Citizens of the Township did not need to wait for print publication of the new legal prohibition.  The checkout line grapevine and tavern talemongers sufficed to spread the word.

In two days, Ms. White was suffocated by protesting mail and her computer inbox was frozen with even more and angrier rants and threats.

"I was dumbfounded !" she was quoted as saying. "Shocked I tell you ! "  (She didn't know there were that many people in the Township, let alone that many people who even knew that guns existed anywhere near Natick.

One selectman reportedly said he "didn't understand the question".  At the last update, it lookked like Ms. White's gambit was doomed.

One of the complaining Natick townsmen reportedly said:
 "I own an ancient shotgun with Damascus barrels that will split if it's shot... But I'm familiar with the second amendment in the Bill of Rights and I know what this present Supreme Court said about that. The selectmen are ripe for the silly farm!

Now this blog is not about guns.  That is settled law. We present these Massachusetts happenings simply as an insight into how people can get a hold of a lot of authority without getting a hold of a smidgen of wisdom or information. And people who have been elevated to positions loftier than their IQ or ability to reason may be as dangerous as media liars...Or traitors !

DOOFUS MAGNUS

The working condition of the present administration's foreign policy was unclothed again Monday by John (He WAS  in Vietnam!) Kerry, who is supposed to be Secretary of State and majordomo of all things diplomatic.

The dilettante mainstream media's inability to agree on whether the latest incarnation of seventh century (AD / DE) butchery  should be called  ISIS or ISIL, the initial "I" in both appellations certainly stands for "ISLAM" for the international press.

(ISIS is "Islamic State in Iraq and Syria" and ISIL stands for "Islamic State in the Lecant".)

But Kerry, in his exalted role and with great hauteur, looked down his nose at former Congressman and nowadays TV host Joe Scarborough and smugly confided that "ISIS has nothing to do with Islam".  Clicj HJERE for Story

Can the United States get a reshuffle of these wildcards or a reset of doofus domination in the executive branch of our government in time to survive ?

Can We Borrow the Oval Office ?

A really fine writer and thinker, Robert Tracinski reminded me of a wonderful story about President  Abraham Lincoln and General George "In Situ" McClellan.

In  his best, affable passive-aggressive acerbity, Pres. Lincoln called McClellan to task for dilatory non-activity.

"If you are not using the Army," Jonest Abe said, "I would like to borrow it for a little while..."

Thank you Bob, in a vain attempt to rattle Pres. Obama's self-inflicted cage, you have jogged many of our full craws to the point of up-chucking.

For instance, leaked  reports  from frustrated Pentagon sources allow that despite his wimpy statement that "we have no strategy" vis a vis the Islamic State of Iraqi and Syria, the president has been continually advised and updated for more than a year on the coalescing, strengthening and bloodthirsty activity of the new, improved giant-sized terrorist army in search of a new Caliphate.

A survey reported on Tuesday, September 2 2014 showed that the great majority of Americans do not want Casper Milquetoast  as a protector in lavender lace drawers. Neither do they want a 
shoot-'em-up cowboy.

But we've never had a Neville Chamberlain in the Oval Office before.  And it isn't the fact that he never went to summer camp or  trained on a firing range.

What it is, as Andy Griffith would  say the POINT (and he was a stomp down left-wing liberal)  is "totin'  that punkin to the goal through a mass of fighting, kicking, gashing, bloody, muddy adversaries who want to stomp your eyeballs out..."

Where have the guys with the guts ( and the strategies) gone ?  

The joint Chiefs don't look sharp in the drapery of doormats, either.

If I had my way, we would borrow the whole military, and put Camille Paglia in charge.

Or dig up Golda Meir.

Pollster Literacy

Literacy is the parent of credibility.

I don’t know if that’s  original here or  not; but ever since I passed a college course on Public Opinion at Emory University when Elmo Roper and Harris were starting out to compete with Gallup, I’ve been an addicted poll rat .

And I’ve had some bizarre wake-up calls along the way. Even today when everything is supposed to be so sophisticated and complex , there are ways to test the credibility if  not the accuracy of a public opinion survey 

For instance, within a month of the retreat of Scott Rasmussen from the poll to which he gave his name, the company began to deteriorate in credibility from the most accurate of all the American survey specialists to a clear left-leaning posture, revealing that they had returned to a sampling methodology based on the 2008 party split , rather than the 2010 / 2012 numbers . 

In these days when Reuters and Gallup show Obama’s approval at 40% or less while Rasmussen clings to a 47% approval on the same days of testing , it is bizarre .

But here is the strange thing . The syntax in the Rasmussenj website reporting is also bad. It has  frequent misspellings and slipshod editing like today’s use of “now “ for the very important verb “KNOW” !!!

I’ve noted the same thing in polls on local and state races. In Georgia today for instance, while five other surveys show David Perdue from 7 to 9 points ahead of Michelle Nunn, a WSB TV website headline gushes that Nunn “has expanded“  a lead that she has never even had , in any of the polls averaged on the Real Clear Politics unbiased and most credible site of all. The emotional one-sided awkward screed at WSB TV contributes to the embarrassment.

I’m reminded of Li’l Abner”s comic strip assertion long ago that “As any fool can plainly see ...I see !!!”

If they can’t report their findings clearly and with literate language and if they do not edit for clarity and accuracy , they probably do not do a circumspect job with the numbers.

Or  so it seems here . 

DUMB

This has been rather a lengthy hiatus-- seven months since the last post in Cato's Depot. The future succession of posts will be sporadic rather than regular.

However, a small but powerful reminder of what's wrong passed across the monitor screen Wednesday that prompts a reminder that one should consider all future possibilities before one calls someone who is irritating, "dumb" because of a disagreement.

That would be true especially if the person one branded as "dumb" has ( or had)  more information and/or experience than the "Dumb-Brander".

And, THEN:

There, staring at me from my monitor  was an officer of the new Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, brandishing a Scimitar over the head of  a Western journalist, having just beheaded an American journalist and now gloating and threatening... Albeit incognito in a ski mask.

And there, also on my monitor was a story that harked back eight years ago about a response that George W. Bush, then president of the United States, made to Democrat demagogues raising hell for the United States to leave Iraq immediately.

Bush said then that leaving Iraq "prematurely" before "the job was done" would lead to something unimaginably worse than al Qaeda.  He was quoted as saying in that 2006 statement that a "bug out" by Americans from Iraq would definitely fertilize and prompt the establishment of an organized politically and militarily more rovust  that will be  capable of challenging the West on a higher-level of organization and financial strength due to the Iraq oil reserves. Bush said at that time, if we left a vacuum behind us, mere t and go  terrorism would be replaced by sophisticated political, financial and military development that would outpace anything yet seen in the Middle East and pose a real   constant threat to the West.

Pretty dumb, Huh ?

A Little Too Late

No one is going to mark the date, but on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, Ernest Istook quoted  a group of  honest, concerned scientists and clinicians headed by the nation's "DRUG Czar", Obama's appointee, contradicting  the Chief Magistrate's latest clueless ignorant babbling. CICK, SEE STORY 

President Obama had announed that recreational cannabis use is not as dangerous as  use of alcohol, and nothingt to be alarmed about.

The Drug Czar's website, (part of  White House.gov)   warns  that pot not only killls  teens' brain cells,but that it's inhaled smoke has more cancer causing chemicals than tobacco. It also   kills volition. Alcohol does none of this.

Any of his old "Choom" buddies could have set him straight.  The marijuana they used in the late 70's was about  10% as strong as today's Colorado and Wasgington State LEGAL product; even less powerful than hash, oil and some "medical"  distillations.

This is something about which we actualy  have  empirical as well as clinical knowledge, having been given: first abstinence and then opportunity to work with thousands of addicts and their famlies for more than 20 years, professionally and socially.

But my opinions are not my point here. The Department of Drug Enforsement has viewed the softening of attitudes toward cannabis in the U.S. with fear-not-just-alarm.

What thoughtful people ask again and again is:

"Why the great rush to legalize a drug that civilizations older than ours still view with documented  negativity ?...Even horror.

The adoption of the appellation "Assassin" from the root of "Hashish" in  early Asia Minor was not without reason and evidence.

Look at the nations that still enforce  harsh penalties for importation, sale and possession of cannabis in any form. CLICK HERE

There is no longer any hope of stemming the tide of irresponsibility that has clouded and debased America  for decades  It is now "hitting its stride" with widespread  clamor for legalizing illegal mind altering drugs.

You may tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, VIRGINIA, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding. 

No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

The Scurrilous Culprits

Have you ever wondered who is responsible for all the stealing that's gone on in solar panels and the bird-slaughter and ugly landscape of the windmill farms ?  I bet Al Gore comes to your mind.... But he's just a dishonest hustler and flimflam man with his eye on the buck. He hasn't been exactly a jewel of consistency or probity since they threw him out of Vanderbilt University a LOOOOONG  time ago. Gore's ancient, moldy act is a shell game for suckers, pretentious, but pusillanimous.

I ran across an important collection of laughable predictions by the men who used their credentials to shock journalists and credulous families into believing the sky is falling.  Every one of them had graduate degrees in something and if their predictions had any basis in fact or validity, all of us who can now place them where they belong with derisive guffaws, would not be here.

According to these three clowns of the academic tent, we should be dead along with most of the rest of the world's people.

Paul Ehrlich, James Hansen and Michael Mann have been proven in peer-reviewed critiques, to be purveyors of false "scientific" information. There are others.

We can never recapture what has been wasted in the name of Chicken Little.

We graduated from the eleventh grade into the Big Wide World, in 1942 at Buford high school. I didn't know I was deprived but I soon found out, surrounded by full-12-grade graduates at Emory.

But this is a Thanksgiving blog and what I want to emphasize is that because of gratitude ( my only claim to righteousness then) I can remember the name and specialty of every teacher in that school while I was there. Several of them also taught  my sons. 

As a matter of fact, I am absolutely certain that Misses  Daisy Shadburn, NanJohnson, Berta McCurdy and Nita Tanner focused on my barren soul in the first four grades to teach me a sense of gratitude that I just didn't know or instinctively feel as did my next-door neighbors the Lawler family  (the only Roman Catholics in our town at that time.)  I got very hot and thirsty one rainy day running around inside the Lawler house and drank some Holy Water from one of their mantels. Subsequent, immediate instruction was a powerful foundation for understanding what "being thankful" meant.  But by the time I had glided through the "rooms" of Eva Gholston, Barbara Johnson, TW Morgan and Gladys Hines,  I was in the anteroom toward maturity.  When Kitty Bell actually came to my influenza bedside to tutor me in algebra, I not only passed into the 10th grade: I was grateful, thankful and knew what those words meant in a deep personal way that no Sunday school teacher or  threatening preacher could have ever explicated or built.

It is not fashionable nowadays to pile plaudits at the feet of teachers. But this powerful group of civilized motivated women that sculpted my clay into a sponge hell-bent to learn and then teach  a sense of gratitude--- they would probably be barred from many of today's "Core"-ridden schools. 

Kitty Bell finally left  Buford and gravitated  to Oak Ridge Tennessee where she worked in the Manhattan project (building the first Atomic Bomb).

It's very fashionable in academic circles nowadays to pick at the Thanksgiving of 1621 and compare it with the Thanksgiving of 1623 and then with the Thanksgiving of 2013. 

But except for the fact that the pilgrims off  the Mayflower  were thanking God as well as  the civilized Native Americans who had taught them to plant maize and hunt and trap meat ( which averted their starving), this discussion is more to shine a bright light on how bungling, unenlightened souls come to understand  Grace, Thanks and Gratitude.

My Betts, before she went to the True World, had a favorite fable from the Orient most illustrative of one thing ( among many ) .

An ancient Chinese father of many who were fathers of many, attended the wedding of a prince and his princes. After the ceremony, the Ancient One presented the couple with a small convoluted shell, iridescent in all of the shades of the spectrum, and though  tiny, it  projected a brilliance that was almost unkind to the 
eye.

"I see," the well-traveled prince said, "that you have been to the hazardous south border of the far sea. You must have traveled many moon-changes".

"Ah, Inded", smiled the Vizier. "Arduous and lengthy journey...Part of Gift !!!!"

So, THIS is the target of true gratitude...the Heart  and its praise of all Respect and feeling for the struggle and the loss and the winning of wisdom and the passion of  delivering it  to others.

They announce 100,000 people have "applied" for Obamacare in the past five weeks.  But only 27,000 have signed up on the sideshow website.

And they will not comment on how many million have had health insurance cancelled.

(1)  How many people have acually BOUGHT into Obamacare ?

(2)  How much more than the $100 million did the website cost ?

(3)  Did anyone other than the "builders" qualify or bid on the website ?

(4)  How many people in the U.S. have had their health insurance  canceled with the implementation of Obamacare ?  

Armed with these facts,  maybe even the toe-suckers at CNN and MSNBC  can  appraise the catastrophic stable-floor we have been thrust upon.

How many times does this happen every year unbeknownst to the majority of literate American voters ?

How many times, that is, does  a well-known public figure ( politician, priest ,  statehouse grifter, columnist, and blogger or talking head ) make a prediction about future  hazards and calamities and said prediction is pooh-poohed by what seems to be thousands of other pompous politicos , pundits, palavering  TV  boobs and hustlers ---and we never hear when the original warning shot is proven to be  valid and spot on target  ?

 Well I can't remember a famous  case.... Until now.

Back in 2009, when fright-face  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told us all that we needed  to pass the Obama care bill to find out what was in it because it was over 1000 pages longand according to her the Congress had only  only days   to rubberstamp  the monstrosity .

Former   Alaska governor Sarah Palin, mused judiciously in an interview as well as on television  that the worst feature of all the murky Obamacare oppression   was its setting up of "Death Panels" tasked with appointing the ancient, the halt, the lame and the blind to die a little bit sooner because medical care would be wasted on their already  moribundity.... said condition to be adjudicated by non medical bureaucrat  gatekeepers.

She was well-known for this kind of treachery as governor of Alaska by shadowy grifter Democrat  operatives  and naysayers  whom she was forever unmasking and disrobing.

ESPECIALLY some woman who was so infra dig as to choose life rather than abortion for a Downs-child  pregnancy.

It has never been   considered  "FAIR"   by members of the left wing "HIVE"  for  opposition to use  LOGIC or for their opposition to be armed with WIT, of which they can   boast of a not  a half measure.

In times of crisis, close, incestuous entities such as political parties tend to  first dissemble and then, to disinmtegrate.

We are at one of those times...a very clear and impressive moment of

The so-called "Obamacare" legislation  faced tough sledding to begin with. But the Obama administration's mosdt  dedicated obfuscators came up with a 1,000-plus page "bill" of legislation that was read by nobody except the congressional drudgery monger proofreeaders.

The democrat speaker of the house, Madame Pelosi  announced: We will HAVE to pass it to see what's IN it !!!"

Not all of the opponents of the bill agreed on a single "drawback".  But every republican lawmaker voted against it.

Some said it woould strip everyoe of ther "present" coverage.  The president promised that would NEVER happen, and so on and on and on.

Then, a Republican majority was elected in the House and this year, we went through the drama of a freashman senator from Texas, Ted Crus, leading  filibuster against funding the healt law in the budget   Remember, only the House can  originate budgets and expenditures. So Crus, the "tail" in a minority Senate was "wagging"--- that is, Leading,  a majority conservative House.

This time, they all agreed on ONE reason:

"We must save America from this calamity by defundng.  If we do NOT, the USA will be strangled, disappointed, and finally be halted, frozen in impotent anger because no one really knows what wiill happen  in October.

Well,  October is gone.

This morning I saw where Pelosi and others are now claimin that the Republicans "sabotaged" the AHCA legislation.

If crying "HAVOC",  and incurring thewrath of the New York Times, et al, ad mauseum is "sabotage"  so be it.

This colyum has just one thing to say...no matter HOW distatesful and impolite:

SCOTUS Reckoning

There is no specific legislation that empowers the U.S. Government to issue edicts to alledgedly control "greenhouse gases" that supposedly convict mankind of "warming" the globe.

But the environmental protection agency limits commerce, closes down coal fueled power plants and indulges in issuing non-statuatory regulations with no popular support.

Now, the Supreme Court has collected six  lawsuits into one case it will hear this year.  SCOTUS announced this, but the US  Murky Medis did NOT cover the story.

There was a time when the conspiracy to tax everyone for a ghostly "carbon footprint" would have welcomed this crisis-ender moment with glee.

James Hansen, formerly at NASA has been disrobed as a liar. The UN-IPCC report has been dismissed as fraudulent.  The East Anglia warmists were caught  jiggering numbers, dates and timelines.

Many people now know that gass passed by global cattle herds and even  by termites, produce more CO2 than internal combustion engines.

It is obvious that the media muggers are freaked in the USA because they did not report the  SCOTUS announcement.

Petty Posturing Perfidy

When I went to the Library of Congress website on October 1 I was advised that we blind people who sought to download books on digital carrier would not be served and that only members of Congress and their staffs would have access to the Library of Congress until the "shutdown" was over.

Having done quite a bit of research at  the Library of Congress in the past and having found it rather a lonely exercise, I was somewhat aghast that all blind people in the United States were victims of presidential and bureaucratic patty  intransigence.

But I never dreamed the nether  extent to which these pea-brained, solipsists could burrow.

Some other sightless or visually- challenged folks must have alsocontacted their Congress critters and lobbyists because by Saturday the automatons at the library had opened the book downloading site for business. Albeit with embarrassment.

But on the same day, minions of the bureaucracy were attempting to close the Atlantic Ocean, announcing that charter boats would be barred from 11,000 mi.² of saltwater fishing area. Surely, I thought, this is somebody's idea of a joke for headline purposes.

But no! The Internet was flush with videotapes of the occurrence and the proud pronunciamentoes  of the pygmy oppressors.

Even furloughed, the federal employees blindly-following Gubmint
orders, announced they were "following orders to make life as difficult as possible for all citizens in all situations".

Well, in the words of that great Oriental philosopher Lois Lerner: 
"What's new about that?"

The Park Service had already tried to keep World War II veterans out of the unmanned  area of the World War II  Memorial. When the old Octo-and-Nono-Genarians had plowed on to their sacred area the fellers in the Smokey-Bear hats wired the barrier securely. 

Then, Far away in Normandy's Pont du Hoc, they closed the cemetery where dead of the 1944 summer invasion lie.

Of course, all golf courses and Camp David were untouched 

Apparently oblivious that this sort of activity, more than anything, was driving the president's "approval" percentages down, they had one marvelous and laughably feckless attempt remaining.

On Saturday and Sunday they were patrolling  the roads radiating from Mount Rushmore in the South Dakota Badlands, making sure that no one could SEE the mammoth  sculpture of four revered American presidents, Washington, Jefferson, T. Roosevelt and Lincoln.

I just hope some of these simpletons try to activate the absolutism of Algorian "green" dicta: limiting the amount of CO2 emitted by human breathing.

And, finally, as a reprise of all deterioration of authority since Adanm, there will be a surfeit of ROGUE  RATS (not to be confused with RugRats or "kids" ).

Probably with an Earthwide search led by the Greenie Environmentalists for an AlGorean Pied Piper to save the Planet.

Don't Leave Home Without It !

It is fitting that the oldest continuously published newspaper in the United States would come up with the story of an entrepreneur who desire it is striking hotly with surefire sales to a wide customer assortment.

The Hartford Courant, first printed in 1764, is reporting mass sales of a kit aimed for the use of students, teachers, principals, monitors--- and for that matter all employees forced to make a living by toiling in one way or another in "gun free"  zones.

The Navy Yard in Washington DC is a gun free zone. Most public skools and colleges are "gun free" zones. A gun free zone as most people understand it is an area are a building where firearms are absolutely forbidden for everyone--- even security personnel.

This new kit contains and 800,000 volt stun gun taser, a triggered pepper spray, a 12 foot window ladder, and.. Well, you can't go HERE to check out the entire contents of this the survival resources in the "kit".

What family, indeed, would not indulge a vulnerable Mom, student, even an old Dad such an array of protection against the mentally deranged mass murderers that populate our streets and our carefully background-checked workforce.  After all it is the politically correct way.

It would be too easy to arm the security personnel, or train employees in serious self-defense.

I'm not talking "cheap" here, either. And I don't begrudge the fellow who put together this kit a time of his profit-- and I'll wager that will be more than considerable.

If that's the best we can do. Let's do it. But I still feel that something is being diluted by the deluded.

Ballad of Tyler and Demias

The graph represents the normal distribution of achievement level in almost all human physical and mental effort.  It looks like Antoine de Saint Expurey's  "Boa that Swallowed an Elephant" from the Little Prince.

 

But it holds.  From the  left, the highest acievers are few, the median achievers are lumped into about a 70% mass  and the lower achievers dribble off in a mirror of the highest.

 

This altogether natural, constantly reappearing distribution in the  basic snapshot in the REAL world of honest appraisal.

 

But in the world  of Tyler and Demias, it is unwelcome. One might say it is like many truths in the hands and minds of the community organizers and collectivist levelers in the 21st century.

 

It does not exist for the evil meddlers.

 

I worked with a physician in a past life who would, when presented with a fact unfamiliar to him, bark: "That's Not SO !!!" ....No matter how many times his obtuse fool act was unmasked.

African-American top achievers are regularly attacked physivally and verbally as "Crackas" and "Whitey-ASSES".  White scholars are defamed as "Petty-Puss" and "Faggots" as well as "Kissers" and "Suckers".

 

Tyler Weaver was not trampled by his peers, however. Neither was  Demias Jimerson.

 

Tyler read too many books, and won the library prize too often, so his librarian put the name of everyone who had read 10 into a hat and "drew" for the prize.  (Tyler had read, DEMONSTRABLY, hundreds.)

Jimerson ws a football prodigy.  He scored every time he got the pigskin ! So, to "give the others a chance".  Demias was not just curtailed in playing time. He was punished when he showed extra prowess.

This is the way government bureaucracy is operated.  This is the way government "public" skools are operated.

Next will be high school basketball, wrestling and  soccer is already, arguably, in the tank.

Do you get as disgusted as I do when you read about the cops taking down a couple of 10-year-olds for having a lemonade stand ?

Well I've found something worse!

 What would you say if you saw a mother and daddy teaching  a toddler how to garden--- to raise fresh vegetables  right beside ( actually in  the  shadow of)  a grimy housing project  ?

 I mean, that would be MORE than lighting one little candle, and not cursing the economic darkness, wouldn't it ?

 Well take a look at THIS.

The United States Department of Agriculture jackbooted thugs have cited a four-year-old for improper use on federal land .

These Creeps could better use their time coralling the thousands of people who are making big-money growing dope in the national forests and parks.

 But there is a  stink  all over and throughout federal bureaucracy under this administration as though all federal employee have been ordered to do the worst thing possible to the best, most beautiful people .

 This is not overreaction.  Jjust look around you.  Check it out !

  Why on earth do they do these things ?  Because they CAN....
